About the University and the Human Resources Department:
California State University, San Bernardino is a preeminent center of intellectual and cultural activity in Inland Southern California. The Human Resources Department provides service in the areas of benefits, compensation, employee and labor relations, employment, payroll, performance management, recognition, training and development, leaves of absence and other human resources programs.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; Some evenings and weekends may be required. The work schedule for this position during the summer months is Monday through Thursday from 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (30 minute unpaid meal period).
Anticipated Hiring Range: $2504 to $4200 per month

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Confidential Office Support will provide administrative office support to the Human Resources management team and support/coordinate general office activities by performing a wide variety of administrative tasks independently. Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Incumbent will assist with the preparation and gathering of sensitive data for fact finding, investigations, grievance responses, notice of investigation, collective bargaining, union release time request coordination, meet and confers, disciplinary actions and information requests.
Incumbent will be responsible for coordinating/maintaining confidential documents, meeting notes and assist with determining what items can be filed/archived electronically.
Incumbent will draft memos, edit/format documents and proofreads materials containing confidential and/or sensitive information.
Incumbent will assist with general office operations, answer/direct callers and respond to inquiries as needed to appropriate Human Resources team members or other departments.
Incumbent will maintain the Director's calendar and prioritize all requests for meetings.
Incumbent will make travel arrangements, process travel claims and other reimbursements for the Human Resources team.
Incumbent will assist with organizing the Employee Service Awards, President's Retirement Luncheon and other special programs and events including coordinating catering orders and working with Special Events and Guest Services.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Type at a net rate of 50 words per minute or at an established rate which is proficient for the job assignment;
Operate standard office equipment such as photocopiers, facsimile machines, and ten-key calculators;
Perform basic math computations quickly and accurately;
Interact cooperatively with staff, management, other departments, and public and union representatives;
To take and transcribe dictation at meetings;
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing;
Appear for work on time;
Follow directions from a supervisor;
Understand and follow posted work rules and procedures;
Accept constructive criticism; and
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work.
This position may be required to work overtime hours as needed.
Experience & Training and License/Certificate: A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two or more years of increasingly responsible administrative, secretarial, and clerical experience is required. At least three years of Human Resources experience in a unionized higher education institution or public agency is highly desirable.
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business, public or personnel administration, psychology or a related field.
License/Certificate: This position may occasionally drive a personal or campus vehicle. A valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
