Temporary Job Description:
Conducts tests and procedures; sets up and operates equipment; records observations and measurements and collects and compiles data in a research lab; requires a practical understanding of standard scientific techniques. All of these duties should be done independently and in consultation with the PI and other senior members of the lab. Additionally, the tech should Design and perform experiments following protocols, policies, procedure, regulations. Good clinical and good laboratory practices and conducts standard and repetitive experiments.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years' lab/bench or other relevant experience required; OR
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a scientific major or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 1 year lab/bench or other relevant experience.
Minimum qualifications include:
Demonstrated laboratory experience;
Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions as required by research protocols;
Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
Ability to work independently and in a team environment;
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience with cardiac surgery
Experience isolating cardiomyocytes and hepatocytes
Experience with isolated working hearts
MS Office suite 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
