The School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering (SICE) at Indiana University (IU) Bloomington invites applications for a faculty position in machine learning at the level of Assistant Professor (tenure-track) to begin in Fall 2019.
The position is part of a major Emerging Area of Research initiative by Indiana University bringing together computer scientists, cognitive scientists, and psychologists studying human and machine learning. Applications are especially encouraged from potential faculty with synergistic interests, expertise, or collaborations relevant to learning.
Duties include research, teaching, and service. The Indiana University initiative on learning will continue over the next few years by promoting additional faculty lines to address the important topic of learning in humans and machines. SICE is the first school of its kind and among the largest in the country, with unsurpassed breadth. Its mission is to excel and lead in research, education, and outreach spanning and integrating the breadth of computing, IT and modern engineering. It includes over 130 faculty, 1100 graduate students, and 1900 undergraduate majors at IU Bloomington. It offers PhDs in Computer Science, Informatics, Information Science, and Intelligent Systems Engineering and actively supports entrepreneurship.

Applicants should have a demonstrable potential for excellence in research and teaching and a PhD in a related field expected before August 2019.
