Duties and Responsibilities: Loyola University Chicago (LUC), College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy invites applications for an Endowed Chair appointment, beginning academic year 2017-2018. The desired area of expertise is European philosophy from Kant to present with a focus on traditions and methods ordinarily understood as continental. The Department of Philosophy has extensive teaching duties in LUC's Core Curriculum and its undergraduate programs for Majors and Minors, as well as in its MA and PhD programs. The Chair holder will also be expected to maintain scholarly activity in keeping with the prestigious nature of the appointment.
Minimum Qualifications: The candidate will have a PhD in Philosophy and occupy the rank of full professor prior to appointment. Candidates for the position must have an impressive record of distinguished scholarship (national/international reputation), funded research, and doctoral student mentorship. The candidate should be willing to support the mission of LUC and the goals of a Jesuit Catholic Education.
