The University of Chicago's Ben May Department for Cancer Research in the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) invites applications for faculty positions from researchers who will establish a cancer-focused research program. Both early career (tenure-track) and tenurable mid-career candidates are encouraged to apply. In line with strategic development of cancer research at the University of Chicago, we anticipate that such investigators would carry out research in areas such as cancer stem cells, tumor microenvironment, tumor metabolism, tumor microbiome, tumor cell migration/invasion/metastasis amongst other cancer-relevant areas. Applicants making use of cancer model systems relevant to the biology of prostate cancer, bladder cancer or kidney cancer are particularly encouraged. It is anticipated that candidates will receive a secondary appointment within the Department of Surgery, Section of Urology. Candidates will also be proposed for an appointment in the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) (http://cancer.uchicago.edu) and collaborate with colleagues across the Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences Divisions, as well as the University of Chicago Medical Center and the Institute for Molecular Engineering. Appointed faculty will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs in the biological and physical sciences. Equally, applicants are expected to engage in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.Applicants must have a doctoral degree.
