The Assistant Director of Development, Parents cultivates and solicits philanthropic support for university priorities by establishing and developing relationships with non-alumni parent supporters, nationally. This position will collaborate closely with the Parent and Family Leadership Council and broader UA Parents team. (S)he demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of university priorities and develops and implements fundraising strategies for a portfolio comprised of both annual and major gift non-alumni parent prospects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Develops and executes a non-alumni parent fundraising business plan with strategic cultivation and solicitation steps for prospects, placing an emphasis on building a band of Parent and Family Leadership Council (PFLC) support via annual donors and dollars, in the form of renewable $5-10,000 gifts. 2.Front-line fundraising, portfolio management and engagement of parent prospects. While adhering to donor intent, candidate has a focus on securing immediate impact gifts. 3.Support broader fundraising initiatives of Marquette's Parent and Family Leadership Council (PFLC), assists in higher-level parent fundraising initiates when applicable. 4.Manages a portfolio of annual donors renewing support as PFLC members, engages and communicates with prospects; accomplishes a minimum of 10 personal visits per month. 5.Responsible for comprehensive knowledge of university, college and unit priorities with the ability to effectively collaborate with fundraising peers around multiple philanthropic opportunities. 6.Maintains appropriate contact with prospects and records substantive information in university prospect management/database system. 7.Meets regularly and collaborates with manager to assess and divide fundraising priorities, review strategies and track progress toward meeting fundraising performance benchmarks. 8.Proactively develops professional fundraising skills using internal and external sources. 9.Attends university and university-sponsored events and volunteer meetings, acting as a representative of the annual fund, often during the evenings and weekends; represents the university to external constituents. 10.Engage prospects and/or volunteers through promoting their attendance as guests at events. 11.Participates in Advancement staff meetings/prospect tracking meetings/committee meetings, etc. 12.Staffs and supervises other projects as assigned. 13.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
Minimum of 3 years of development-related experience in non-profit or an outside sales environment specifically working with engaged volunteers and/or directly involved with annual fundraising efforts and personal solicitation.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work with colleagues in a team environment.
The ability to travel is required.
The ability to work within a complex environment as well as a strong commitment to Marquette's character as an urban institution, its goals, mission and Jesuit Catholic tradition is needed.
