Through the use of high quality images which accurately and lucidly portray the theories put forth by the research personnel of the Salk Institute, incumbent provides illustrations, poster design, book layout and cover design to faculty, staff and administration leadership. These services are used for publications, grant applications, seminars, grant symposia, internal and external displays, events, functions and the like. Incumbent will support graphic art, 3D graphics, video animation, etc. as needed. Incumbent manages processes associated with projects, such as coordination with Facilities Services for fabrication and installation and outside service providers including printers and fabricators. Incumbent provides consultation and assessment of faculty needs, mobilizing techniques for minimizing costs and maximizing product quality. Offers creative input and recommendations to Salk administration and faculty on a variety of projects enabling many to pursue their own efforts based on the expert advice of incumbent. The incumbent will be able to communicate with the scientific client at a collaborative level when interpreting data and information for illustrative purposes of publication or presentation, seminars and lectures.
Bachelorâ™s degree in relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Expert knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign.
Bachelorâ™s degree or minor in scientific illustration and/or graphic design.
Must be willing to work in an animal-related research environment.
Satisfactory completion of the Instituteâ™s background investigation.
Must be willing to sign an employee confidentiality agreement.
