The Associate Dean, Director of Undergraduate Admission oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of Undergraduate Admission and serves as a senior member of the enrollment team. The Director provides leadership and direction through long-term planning and strategic oversight to fulfill university goals for an academically accomplished and diverse undergraduate student body. Works with the Associate Vice President and Dean of Undergraduate Enrollment to establish office policies and priorities; to develop innovative recruitment strategies; and to evaluate and enroll exceptional candidates for admission.
Leadership & Management
Manage an admissions and operations staff of 30+ full-time employees, 30 seasonal staff and 150+ student workers.
Provide leadership, direction and vision to a highly creative, enthusiastic and dedicated team.
Communicate department and university goals, and implement strategies through effective collaboration across admission teams.
Determine staffing needs.
Hire and train new staff as well as provide professional development opportunities. Delegate responsibilities, assign duties and promote accountability.
Cultivate an office culture that is professional, innovative, proactive and fun.
Recruitment, Communication, & Customer Service
As a senior member of the undergraduate enrollment team, develop and plan enrollment strategies to fulfill institutional goals.
Direct the outreach and recruitment of the first-year and transfer classes.
Develop a strategic recruitment plan in collaboration with units in enrollment and across the University.
Analyze market and demographic trends.
Design a communications plan by incorporating print and digital mediums that are innovative and reflect university messaging, strengths and values. Oversight of the Segal Visitor Center.
Create a memorable visitor experience for prospective students, families, the secondary school community and community based organizations.
Utilize data to determine effectiveness of recruitment activities.
Applications & Enrollment
Oversee the selection process of 43,000 first-year and transfer applications. Responsibility for processes that fulfill enrollment targets for the college and five schools.
Create timelines to meet application evaluation deadlines.
Train and direct staff to evaluate applicants with university objectives and policies in mind.
Implement technology driven methods for streamlining review process. Manage yield activities and programming.
Serving as a campus resource for key partners across the University
Building strong relationships with the secondary school community and community based organizations
Assessing technology needs
Managing the admissions budget.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of progressive management and leadership experience in university admissions.
Exceptional communication, organizational and analytical skills.
Data analysis experience.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel by plane.
