Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Location: Hyde Park Campus
1)Lab Operations â“ assisting with staff onboarding, orientation, supervision, and training, performance management, weekly staff schedule and time approval, acting as liaison between departmental H.R. and principal investigator â“ assisting study principal investigator with grant writing, submitting IRB new protocols, continuing reviews, and study amendments, preparing annual progress reports.
2)Biological Sample Management â“ overseeing preparation, storage, and inventory of lab biological samples, preparing shipments for both internal and external analyses.
3)Supply Inventory and Ordering â“ tracking all lab and study supplies, ordering via University and outside purchasing systems, negotiating best rates for large equipment, acting as main contact for outside vendors, communication with lab staff to ensure timely delivery of needed supplies.
4)Financial â“ creation of study and lab budgets, reconciling charges on lab credit card, managing lab petty cash accounts, bill and invoice management.
5)Equipment Maintenance and Calibration â“ overseeing storage and usage of lab equipment, performing equipment calibration, facilitating repairs as needed.
6)Lab and Study-Related Mass Mailings â“ creating subject mailings to increase follow-up retention (newsletters, birthday and holiday cards, notifications), overseeing production and shipment, updating returned addresses.
7)Study Related Tasks â“ as needed, completing phone screening, data entry and verification, viewing and scoring videos, placing advertisements, study randomization and condition preparation.
8)Meeting Management â“ reserve and prepare conference rooms, arrange for webinars, assist in creating meeting agendas, record and summarize meeting outcomes.
9)Special Projects Management â“ managing both large (subject room redesigns, specialty equipment ordering) and small (ordering lunch during meetings, placing needed work orders) miscellaneous projects.
1)Strong verbal and written communication skills.
2)Excellent attention to detail.
3) Ability to train others.
4)Ability to effectively work independently with minimal direction and as part of a team.
5)Ability to present and prepare presentations.
1) Experience within a clinical research environment.
2) Experience in laboratory management.
3) Familiarity with University of Chicago procurement, financial, and regulatory systems.
4) Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
