Maryville University is looking to hire a Cloud & Network Security Engineer to join it’s Information Technology team. This person will be responsible for ensuring the security of the university’s information assets and systems through a systematic, proactive approach that balances risk with business requirements and outcomes. They will support the Director of Network Services and CISO in developing and executing the information security program including: risk assessment; controls design; standards development; awareness and communication; monitoring and incident response. Collaborating across all levels of the organization and partnering to manage information security risk will also be required. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a welcoming environment for a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
Program Execution: Assist in developing and executing the foundation's information security program, including: recommendations for capabilities and prioritization, strategy execution, development of standards and procedures. Identify key environmental data for communicating risk through information security metrics. Participate and lead Information Security awareness efforts.
Risk Assessment: Conduct information security risk and vulnerability assessments. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand business requirements and recommend appropriate solutions and controls.
Incident Response: Respond to information security incidents, including investigations and forensics, leading cross-functional teams as necessary.
Establishes, implements, and monitors compliance with security controls; communicates and tracks resolution of security exposures, misuse, and/or noncompliance situations; escalates as appropriate to senior leadership
Researches, evaluates, designs, tests, recommends and implements new or improved information security controls, tools, processes, software or devices
Monitors systems for any anomalies, proper maintenance and patch compliance
Maintains system documentation and configuration for regulatory and audit purposes
Maintains knowledge of potential and emerging information security threats, vulnerabilities, and control techniques and assists IT and business staff in understanding and responding
Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience (May require technical certification depending on technology specialization)
Experience with information security technologies and services (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, CASB, identity and access management, endpoint protection, and managed security services providers)
Knowledge of technical architectures, common endpoint operating systems, and service platforms for SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and Managed Security Services.
Proficiency in performing risk, business impact, control and vulnerability assessments, and in defining treatment strategies
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical and non-technical presentations and documentation.
Planning, organizational skills, ability to handle multiple projects without direct supervision.
Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
Ability to create clear strategies, policies, procedures and system documentation.
Familiarity with Aruba Networks and Palo Alto Networks
Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and other cloud environments
Strong Microsoft Server, AD, Group Policy and Office365 knowledge and experience
