Job Requisition Number: 26739. Field stations of the UC Natural Reserve System have been an intimate part of the BNHM’s history and focus on the natural laboratory. Nine reserves in particular are aligned with the Berkeley Natural History Museums. Their diversity in habitat, ecology and biodiversity are critical areas of research and education.
We are also part of a Critical Zone Observatory centered on the Eel River at the Angelo Coast Range Reserve. The Eel River Critical Zone Observatory (CZO) is one of ten National Science Foundation observatories that study the interconnection of physical, chemical and biological processes of the “critical zone” — where rock, soil, water, air and living organisms interact and shape the Earth’s surface.
•Collate and enter numerical data into Excel from sampling campaigns •Assist with field data collection •Keep lab space clean and stocked •Monitor need for supplies and sampling equipment, order additional supplies from stockroom as needed •Other duties as required (eg. attend group meetings)•Experience with data entry and MS Excel •Familiarity with water sampling •Coursework in relevant field (hydrology, geology)
Education/Training: •Relevant field work experience (6 mos. minimum) •Relevant laboratory experience (6 mos. minimum) This position is governed by the terms and conditions in the agreement for the Technical Unit (TX) between the University of California and the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE).
