Online High School AP® Instructor Gifted LearningLinks (GLL)
Please attach a cover letter indicating the subject of interest for full consideration for the temporary opportunity. Currently we are hiring for our 2019 – 2020 academic year: All positions are teaching online between August 15, 2019 and July 31, 2020. Subjects are listed below:
GLL offers a wide range of Honors/AP® courses in Language Arts, the Humanities, Math, Science, and Technology for grades 6-12. All courses offer one or two semesters high school credit. AP® course syllabi will need to be submitted to the College Board for authorization. Students have up to 18 weeks to complete a single semester, and up to 36 weeks to complete a two semester course. All Honors and AP® courses are offered year-round. All positions at this level are expected to teach an entire academic year, August 15th through July 31st.
Instructors are responsible for the design and implementation of their course curriculum. All courses are delivered online using our learning management system (LMS), Schoology. Instructors are expected to respond to student inquiries within 24 to 48 hours and provide for regular “real–time” interaction. Compensation is based on enrollment and ranges from $175 (one semester) to $325 (two semesters) per student. Stipends are available for new course development. We offer individualized technical support and professional development opportunities for effective online instruction.
Experience teaching AP® Computer Science at the high school level (Grades 9-12)
Experience with current technologies including Schoology or other LMS, and other Web 2.0 tools
Online teaching experience
Instructors should be subject matter experts and experienced in classroom communication and management
Instructors need to be adept at using multiple teaching strategies, assessing student needs and progress, and differentiating instruction for the varied abilities of gifted learners.
Master’s degree and /or experience working with the academically high achieving population preferred
Recently attended an AP workshop
Computer (Windows or Mac platform) with a current operating system
Reliable broadband internet service
Valid email account
