Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Department: Law Legal Clinic Salary/Grade: RES/
The Thomas F. Geraghty Clinical Fellow will administer instructional and administrative functions in support of the Complex Civil Litigation Clinic. While learning the skills involved in clinical teaching, this fellow will also represent clients, and mentor and train students in their Clinic.
Please Note: Field work required for investigation and film production
Shares responsibility for designing class sessions.
Teaches weekly class sessions along with professor.
Instructs students on the processing of interviewing clients and witnesses.
Informs students about taking and defending discovery.
Trains students on filing and responding to motions.
Demonstrates proper technique when arguing motions, and conducting trials and administrative hearings.
Supervises students on their cases.
Handles cases when students are unable or unavailable.
Assists with case handling responsibilities.
Cultivates ties with the tenant advocates community.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Admitted to practice law in Illinois
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Minimum of 3 years of case evaluation and investigation required.
Organization; analytical thinking; big-picture thinking; curiosity; ability to work independently, as well as collaborate as part of a team.
Demonstrates significant writing and editing skills.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
A demonstrated interest in housing and poverty issues.

Experience in a legal setting
Highly proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, IMovie, Adobe Photoshop, Lexis & Accurint & Cascade Content Management System
Communicates effectively both written & verbal.

Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal.
Demonstrates initiative and follow-through.
