The Indiana University School of Social Work invites applications for three non-tenure track faculty positions (full-time lecturers) on the IUPUI campus. These twelve-month appointments, beginning August 1, 2019, will have the responsibility for teaching 4 courses in the Fall Semester, 4 courses in the Spring Semester, and 1 course during summer. Teaching duties may include some course equivalency in field liaison responsibility. The successful candidates will be expected to teach across the BSW and MSW curricula. These positions also carry expectations related to service on School committees and participation in the School-wide Faculty Senate. These appointments are renewable and contingent on student demand and available financial resources.
The Indiana University School of Social Work (IUSSW) is a university-wide system school with an MSW Program accredited by the Council on Social Work Educations since 1923 and a BSW Program accredited since 1975. The IUSSW is headquartered at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). The School has programs on campuses across the state of Indiana including Indianapolis, Bloomington, Richmond, Gary, New Albany, Fort Wayne, and South Bend. As the primary provider of Indiana's social work workforce, the School enrolls approximately 1,600 students across programs (PhD, MSW, BSW) and campuses. The mission of the IUSSW is excellence in education, research, and service to promote health, well-being, and social and economic justice in a diverse world.
Essential qualifications include an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program and two or more years of post-MSW practice experience.
One of these positions will require someone who has experience and expertise with addictions and co-occurring disorders; an LCAC is preferred. The other positions are open to individuals with varied practice experience, although nonprofit leadership or health experience is preferred.
Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate teaching experience at the BSW and/or MSW level. The IU School of Social Work offers an online MSW program and is increasingly moving in the direction of more online and hybrid (combination of face-to-face and distance education technologies) delivery of courses. Preference may also be given to applicants with experience and/or interest in developing the skills for newer delivery methods.
