We seek a Metabolomics Platform Director for the new Duchossois Family Institute (DFI) at the University of Chicago. The DFI seeks to accelerate research and interventions based on how the human immune system, microbiome and genetics interact to maintain health. A large focus of the DFI is on advancing discovery through enabling cutting-edge technology. This individual would have a leadership position within the DFI, reporting to the DFI Director, and a key role in establishing and developing the Metabolomics Platform at the University of Chicago. The individual would interact with other DFI Platform Directors and University of Chicago core directors, with DFI faculty and trainees, and with staff from the Polsky Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The successful candidate would collaborate with investigators in experimental design, development and validation of quantitative metabolite measurements as needed, and manage all aspects of the Metabolomics Platform operation. The candidate should have expertise in mass spectrometry, quantitative global metabolite profiling and measurement, stable isotope tracing/metabolic flux analysis, analytical chemistry, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Â This high-level staff scientist position would be ideally suited for someone who wishes to remain in academic research in a non-tenure track position and has a willingness to interact and collaborate with a broad range of colleagues.
Oversees all aspects of the scientific and intellectual development, management, training, and operations for the Metabolomics Platform of the DFI, reporting to the DFI Director.Â
Provide scientific expertise and leadership in performing and delivering LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, and other mass spectrometry analyses to generate quantitative global and targeted metabolomics data for a variety of research projects in collaboration with DFI investigators.
Work closely with and manage the Metabolomics research staff for timely completion of research studies.
Participates in scientific discussions and brainstorming regarding experimental design, and new technological development and innovation around research themes supported by the DFI, thereby ensuring the Metabolomics Platform remains at the leading edge to support scientific discovery.
Interact and collaborate with other Platform Directors, OSRF Director and OSRF core Directors, Polsky Center Staff, DFI Faculty and trainees.Â
Remains an active member of the scientific community by writing scientific articles, manuscripts, and reports for the research platform, as well as presenting research findings at scientific meetings and/or conferences.â‚â‚â‚

Education, Experience or Certifications:
Experience in mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry required
Experience in metabolomics research required
