In the Center for Research and Evaluation on Education and Human Services (CREEHS), Crew ChiefsÂ Â will support data collection activities for a statewide survey administered to middle school students during the 2019-2020 school year (September 2019 to June 2020). The Crew Chief reports to a CREEHS Evaluation Associate. Multiple positions available.
The Crew Chief conducts a range of data collection activities, including but not limited to the following:
Attends mandatory training on survey data collection
Serves as a team leader to a small team of data collectors
Leads survey administration in assigned schools, including distributing and collecting surveys and consent forms, distributing incentives, and providing support to data collectors on an as needed basis
Supports preparation of materials, completes required documentation for each school, performs quality control, and returns completed documentation to CREEHS
Acts as on-site liaison with school personnel
Communicates with CREEHS staff on a regular basis using detailed logs and progress reports
Adheres to data collection protocols and keeps records of all work activities and administrative tasks
Performs other duties as assigned

Some coursework in research methods, psychology, education, public health,social work, or child development or a related social science field
Willing to travel to schools by personal vehicle
Ability to work/travel some early mornings (5am - 8am), if necessary
Flexible with the hours worked to accommodate schoolsâ™ preferred schedules
Strong leadership skills and ability to delegate responsibilities
Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and with diverse populations
Access to a computer and reliable internet and be proficient with Google Docs and Microsoft Office
Applicants must be willing to complete all security measures (e.g., background check) required by the study
Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred but not required)
Experience working in schools or afterschool programs
The Center for Research and Evaluation on Education and Human Services (CREEHS) is a revenue-generating research and evaluation center housed within Montclair State Universityâ™s College of Education and Human Services. CREEHS provides independent and objective evaluation, applied research and program planning services to institutions of higher education, community-based organizations, state and municipal agencies, school districts and foundations to assist them in meeting their specific goals and objectives related to education, public health and other human services.
