OVERVIEW: Â Under the administrative direction of the College of Education and Human Services and reporting to the Dean, the Director organizes, plans and directs The Ben Samuels Childrenâ™s Center and participates in the development of college-wide policies.
Develops and implements a participatory system for visioning, strategic planning, goal setting, annual work plan, annual report and management of change
Develops and implements a system for evaluation of the program
Drafts policies for review by the Advisory Council and Staff Action Committee and submission to Dean
Develops procedures and practices to implement policies and monitoring of same
Recruits and retains an Advisory Council
Develops and maintains relationships with on- and off-campus stakeholders
Develops system and monitors the maintenance of essential records and files
Administers and interprets applicable federal and state laws that impact the Center
Develops, administers and monitors the Center budget
Ensures that the Center brings in revenue sufficient to fund all Center functions and personnel
Reviews and approves or disapproves all requests for expenditures
Directs the development, processing, and submission for approval of contracts and fee agreements
Secures funding from a range of revenue streams
Directs the process of billing and fee collection
Develops a system for internal requests to purchase
Develops and monitors system for processing of payroll
Recruits, selects, deploys and retains the highest quality employees in sufficient numbers and within budget
Supervises staff, develops performance standards, reviews and writes performance evaluations, provides guidance and counsel to staff and approves personnel actions within the unit including change of assignment, hiring, disciplinary actions in accordance with university policies and state regulations
Ensures up-to-date system for the hiring of new employees, e.g. criminal history review and orientation
Develops and manages systems for communication, teambuilding, dispute resolution, professional development and mentoring
Directs the development and updating of the employee manual
Adjusts staffing patterns to ensure implementation of Individual Family Service Plans and Individual Education Plans, as needed
Initiates and plans conferences, seminars, and workshops
Manages enrollment, adhering to legal limits and exercising best practice and fiscal efficiency
Develops and updates systems for recruitment, selection, and retention of clients/families
Develops and updates systems for communication, teambuilding, dispute resolution, and education for families
Directs the development of systems for the collection of attendance data
Oversees the development and implementation of the curriculum
Provides technical assistance to promote the quality of the educational environment and instruction
Develops and updates systems for generating and distributing reports of the progress of children as appropriate
Directs the development of systems for maintenance of health records
Develops and directs the implementation of safety procedures, e.g. fire drills
Directs the development of systems to maintain an inventory of supplies
Develops and directs the implementation of a security system
Acquires approvals for facilities upgrades, etc.
Establishes and maintains relationship and communication with Physical Plant and Housekeeping staff
Develops and directs the system for monitoring the safety of the playground and other equipment
Promotes an aesthetically appealing environment
Relationship with Academic Units
Collaborates with the Center of Pedagogy, the College of Education and Human Services leadership, the Department of Teaching and Learning, and other university offices and entities in order to accomplish objectives of the Center
Establishes and maintains effective communication and cooperative working relationships with university administrators, faculty and staff, government and private agencies and /or public in order to accomplish objectives of the Center
Approves and/or develops public relations materials relating to the Center
Represents the university at conferences, seminars or meetings, as required
Performs other duties as assigned.

Masterâ™s Degree in early childhood education, special education or a related field.Â
Five years of experience as an administrator with a budget and personnel oversight in education, childcare, early care, and learning or other directly related fields.Â
Proficiency with Microsoft/Google Suite
CPR, First Aid, and AED certificationsÂ
Excellent organizational and leadership skills
Principal or Supervisor Certification or obtain within a reasonable time frame upon hire
State Teacher Certification.
Satisfy the mandatory physical and background checks as required by the State and company regulations and procedures
Ability to communicate company policies and procedures in a firm and clear manner to staff and parents
