This is an excellent internship opportunity for any IU-Northwest Student seeking a future in the IT field. You'll be working at the Northwest campus alongside the University IT Services (UITS) team to learn about, help maintain, and improve the systems of hardware and software we use to support learning & collaborative spaces. Our team is responsible for regularly checking these systems for any issues that interfere with their operation and proceeding to diagnose, repair, and record them. We're looking for someone to assist in these efforts while also learning to communicate as part of an organization of over 1,500 IT professionals, developing the skills to plan effectively and reduce the occurrence of future issues, and taking the opportunity to participate in research, design and problem-solving exercises to improve the systems we're responsible for. Our regional team is part of the diverse UITS organization, which supports over a 1,000 learning & collaborative spaces and more than 10,000 users throughout the IU-campuses. Support learning & collaborative spaces by:
Routinely testing equipment for basic functionality.
Providing light cleaning & maintenance of classroom equipment.
Participating in guided maintenance with a supervisor for any complex issues.
Assisting in the generation and implementation of ideas for improving these systems.
Helping to track supply levels of all needed equipment for your duties.
Provide support to classroom instructors during scheduled shifts in cases of urgent needs.
Keep records of all testing, cleaning, maintenance, and any other duties performed in learning & collaborative spaces.
Occasionally provide team support or assistance for various other tasks.
Prior experience is welcome.
This position operates part-time, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8am-5pm, for 10-15 hours per week based on applicant availability. This internship pays a rate of $12/hour. This internship is intended to begin this summer 2021, as soon as possible, and continue through the early fall 2021 semester with an option to continue working as a part-time student-technician for UITS-Northwest upon evaluation of performance and availability of a position.
