Job Description:

• Advises and counsels students by empowering them to make decisions associated with their career goals and objectives.

• Assesses individual situations and circumstances to create, implement and monitor student career plans.

• Implements/provides personalized counseling and advising that focuses on self- assessment, research, job and internship search strategies, reflection, and strategic decision making.

• Reviews and makes suggestions to improve resumes, covers letters, and other relevant job documentation.

• Creates, updates, and maintains student facing course management websites, social networking sites, chat rooms, etc. that describe, highlight, and explain resources and services.

• Assists with maintenance and management of required Career Course.

• Manages planning and arrangement of programs â“ meetings, workshops, trainings, events, etc. designed to provide information, promote resources and to build internal and external relationships.

• Recruits, trains, and assigns faculty/instructors to teach career related programs.

• Supervises creation of components, including curriculum development, lectures, conferences, and seminars.

• Facilitates and leads professional workshops related to resumes, cover letters, networking, interviewing, social media presence, and other related areas.

• Helps develop and gives input to the career curriculum which is required of all students who wish to have complete access to programs and services related to internships, research opportunities and full-time employment post-graduation.

• Enhances and collects career insights from the Career Course.

• Works, with minimal guidance, to write timely and effective articles about career management topics for a variety of student publications. Conceptualizes, develops, and delivers career management programming and published materials.

• Connects students with alumni and professionals for employment opportunities.

• Includes alumni in programming and events as appropriate.

• Collaborates with the MS in Applied Data Science Assistant Director of External Partnerships.

• Makes career plan recommendations, partnering with internal/external constituencies and resources that meet student needs.

• Collaborates with student affairs, academic departments, student organizations and administrative offices to develop programs and publicize opportunities spanning a broad range of industries and geographies.

• Engages with associations, organizations, alumni, and employers to encourage experiential education and professional development.

• Researches organizations that are hiring and partners with a wide variety of employers to ensure recruitment strategies meet their needs. Maintains contact with a portfolio of employers to serve as their dedicated Career Advancement liaison.

• Continually assesses new technologies and leverages existing technologies to improve the delivery of Career Services offerings to be responsive to the needs of students across in-person and online programs; evaluate and improve business processes to support Career Services productivity.

• Creates, manages, and maintains efficient methods to track student data, quantify student engagement, and report on student outcomes.

• Researches best practices and peer institutions and market/economic conditions and recommends changes and enhancements to improve career services and resources.

• Reviews existing use of technology and recommends changes to incorporate state-of-the- art systems and tools as appropriate into all aspects of the advising, counseling, and recruiting/employment programs.

• Recommends changes and enhancements to leverage technology to best serve the greatest number of students as effectively as possible.

• Identifies opportunities and strategies for short- and long-term growth and expansion of program resources, value, and participation.

• Tracks permission to international students to apply for Curricular Practical Training.

• Researches best practices to enhance, improve, and innovate program topics and delivery to better meet goals and objectives.

• Manages development and maintenance of evaluation processes including associated metrics and key performance indicators.

• Collaborates with internal/external partners to implement changes designed to improve/increase program goals/objectives.

• Conducts job search and career management related large lectures, hands-on workshops, special events, training programs, and one-on-one career coaching sessions. Acts as a resource for and directs students to other career resources as needed.

• Analyzes markets and trends as they relate to job searches. Assesses student feedback and evaluations and collaborates with other career services staff members, student organizations, or other staff to determine program offerings and innovations.

• Performs other related work as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

• Experience with learning platforms and technologies (Canvas, Symplicity, Zoom, Salesforce, SurveyMonkey, Microsoft Excel, Box, RegFox, MailChimp).

Working Conditions

• This position is eligible for a partially remote work schedule.

• This position requires occasional work on evenings and weekends.
