Internal Number: 9516 General Description: Working closely with faculty and research students, you will assist with building software prototypes, set up and carry out experiments on our on-site and remote research testbeds, and help package prototypes and data for open-source release. This position is based in IIT's Mies campus, with consideration given to hybrid work (i.e., some days on-site, other days remote) subject to operational need. Department: Computer Science Department Position Category: Full Time Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in CS or EE, and at least two years of relevant experience. Knowledge & Skills: Ability to configure and diagnose wired networks. Thorough understanding of Linux and its shell (e.g., bash) and terminal tools. Demonstrated experience with development, debugging, profiling, tuning, and maintenance of software written in C/C++ and Python. Demonstrated knowledge of git or other modern version control tools. Demonstrated success of working in a team environment, managing own time, and running several projects in parallel. Experience with using concurrency approaches and working with distributed systems. Experience with system administration. An eagerness to learn and a passion for system engineering. Experience contributing to open-source projects. Experience working in a research environment, and interest in working on problems that lack obvious solutions. Experience working with DPDK.
